We text instead of calling because:
- It takes less time
- It puts a respectable distance between your space and any other human being
- It’s devoid of emotions.
- It keeps emotions at bay.
- It’s more fun: We can be polite while shouting with capitals, use emoticons to express our feelings ….from a “safe” distance.
- We don’t have to put on our poker face. We can lie, cheat and get away with almost everything without being caught.
- We don’t have to commit to anything we don’t like.
- We don’t have to make empty promises we can’t keep.
- We don’t have to focus to understand something from the flood of words.
- We can say whatever we want without fear of an explosive reaction.
- Our mom, sister, bro, dad, colleague, friend can’t pester us with love or tough love
- We can ignore received texts on our closed screen. We just take a peek at the content and postpone answering until we’re ready to do so.
- We need to exercise your fingertips
- We’re in a hurry and don’t have time to delve into introspection, the latest gossip, soap opera, movie… with our BFF, mom, colleague, cousin….
- We don’t want to have a one to one with our boss and his nasty questions about my rush decision, sickness or just because he’s bored, had a fight with his wife and wants to have a heart-to-heart chat at 9:00 pm.
- We don’t want to “drop” at the supermarket for last minute errands at 8:00 pm after work.
- We want to avoid the 3rd degree from a wife, husband, parent, relative, sis, mom etc.
- We just want some peace.
- We’re addicted to sexting.
- We are soooo tired of nagging people telling us what to do with our lives.
- We don’t want to go into lengthy explanations to explain to mom why we can’t make it for Sunday family lunch.
- We can answer in 3 lines (abbreviations) what would take an hour to explain.
- We avoid emotional blackmail, tears, shouts and the likes.
- WE ARE JUST LAZY.
