Tarte à l'oignon, Onion tart - Dinow

Ingredients for 4 persons (Onion tart)

  •  2 tbs. vegetable oil
  • 2 tbs. butter
  • 4 medium onions, cut in half and very thinly sliced
  • A sprinkling of granulated sugar
  • 1-1/2 cups fresh cream
  • A pinch nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves, white pepper                  
  • Grated Gruyère
  • Half baked tart shell (tart’s dough)

Heat the oil and butter in a casserole. Add the onions and sugar, season with salt, nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves, white pepper, and stir until lightly browned. Lower the heat and continue to cook the onions until very soft. Add the cream and don’t stop stirring until the mixture starts boiling and thickens.

Heat the oven after putting the dough in a tart pan. When half baked, add the mixture of onions and cream. Top with the remaining cheese and bake for 20 minutes.
